Who We Are & Purpose
Slow Food Turtle Island Association is modeled on the general ethos of Slow Food to promote good, clean, fair food for all, and focus on the First Foods of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island (First Nations, Inuit, Metís of Canada; Tribal Nations of the United States; and Los Pueblos Indígenas de México). We aim to address related Slow Food issues for our communities, including health and well-being, land use and farming, food policy efforts, and the protection and revitalization of rare, heirloom food varieties, including the traditional knowledge and practices related to them.
